36 Days

So I have been trying to think of what I can write here but my life just isn't all that exciting. I work and sleep with only a little bit of time for anything else. I guess I'm ok with it though. At least it is something to do. It keeps me busy. It is now just over a month until I head back to school and I am having a hard time controlling my excitement. It is going to be a good semester. Maybe not quite as good as the last one but it could be close. The drawback of course being that some of my best friends will not be around will have some effect but I do look forward to making new friends, finding old ones, and having a great time. I register for classes on Monday and will hopefully be finalizing on a job this week. With a full class schedule and a part-time job who knows what kind of time I am going to have for a social life. I hope I still get a bunch because that was one of the main reasons last semester was such a success. I think this weekend calls for anothe...

The Music of Life

So, most of the time a blog tells you about what a person is up to. What they have been doing and any special things that have happened in their recent lives. This is not one of those posts. Possibly it is because my life has been pretty boring recently. Or it's because the words that fit best are those that are found in the words of popular music. Since being home from college, music has been a huge part of everything I do. Surprising to all who knew me before, but I spend a lot more time now just listening to music than watching TV. It is so interesting how the words of a song can be the perfect words to describe life. So many times just sitting in my room listening to music I catch just a phrase or two of a song and just shake my head and say, "How do they know?" I guess I'm a normal person because someone else out there is having the same feelings I have. I fear to think of what my life would be like silent. No music ever in it. Growing up, I was alway...

5 Guys in Utah

Like I said in the last post, I was given four days off of work which I utilized to go to Utah with some friends this weekend. On Friday evening, three of my best friends picked me up and after a bite to eat, we hit the road and got to the Salt Lake area around 8pm leaving the rest of the night for a movie and some good conversation. At my friend's house, we were spoiled by his family. They did everything just to make us feel comfortable and they didn't even have to. They are wonderful people. On Saturday, we went into the city and met up with another of our friends with whom we toured temple square. The highlight of our time on temple square was touring the Conference Center and seeing the Joseph Smith movie. We had a blast but the fun did not stop there. That night we ended up playing games including our favorite...Mega Monopoly. Again, I got second place. Good conversation was the perfect conclusion to the day and in the morning we got ready quickly and after getti...

Epic Weekend

This last weekend I got to go up to Rexburg and see some of my friends for a few days. It ended up being one of the greatest weekends ever. Friday I got to go with one of my friends to the temple which was big to me. It was a big help for me in the comfort and answers I got. That night we did a group date, and murder mystery dinner. It was a lot of fun and I think everyone had a good time. Saturday was a pretty chill day, not a whole lot happened except for the evening of playing the game "signs". . .again. It was our favorite game last semester and so it was quite nostalgic. Sunday, a friend gave a talk in church on faith and character and it was such a good talk that really made me think about what I do daily. That friend is such an inspiration to me. I was planning on coming back that night but decided to stay for an extra night. I am very glad that I did because it was really nice to spend my final morning up there in a quiet scripture study along side others t...

Transition Period

Since coming home from college for a four month break, I have come to a realization of a lot of different things. The biggest realization came during a conversation with my father about what I am going to be doing for the next few months. In all honesty, I have a job, but nothing else has really been in my plans. It has been frustratingly hard and I didn't know why. My dad pointed out that right after I came home from my mission, I had to go straight into preparations for school and was working with the missionaries here in my hometown a lot. Then it was off to school where I was in a socially active environment and busy with homework a lot which kept my mind occupied the majority of my days. Now that I do not have schoolwork or an easily accessible social atmosphere there has been nothing to occupy my mind and have been falling into a rut. This is the transition that most return missionaries go through right when they get off their missions. For me, it is just happening si...

Life as Normal?

I survived finals!!! Not only did I survive but I also succeeded. None of the grades dropped and one went up a little bit. That means that I end with 3 A's and 2 A-'s. 3.875 GPA. I love it. Right after finals got over with, the apartment was cleaned out and everybody started leaving their separate ways to go home. It was a very surreal time. I finally left and began what is going to be my life for the next four months. Yep, I don't go back until April. So now I work. That's basically all I do. It is a big change to go from a place that has all of your friends and something to do every night to a place where nothing is really happening. That is kinda my fault because I don't really want to do much. What I really want is to be with my friends again. I miss them all so much but I am glad that they are all happy and with their families. Hey, and I get to be with my family too. That's a good thing. We had a lot of fun over Christmas and it was great...

Final Death

This past week has been something else, I'll tell you what. But in the end it has ended up being a good week, although the end result of this week will not be entirely realized until the end of this next week. The reason being that this past week was dead week and this coming week is finals week, one of the most dreaded weeks in the life of a college student. To say that I have studied for these finals more than any other finals I've ever taken is an understatement. For some reason, it has come more easy to study this semester than at any other time in my life. This week, however, I discovered the lost land of the library, with some help of good friends of course. What a great place to study. I could focus but still have my friends around me, have mini conversations but still be very productive, it felt pretty dang good. This week however, is going to be the make or break week. Monday: Middle East, Tuesday: Psychology, Wednesday: Math, Thursday:Science. each test havi...
